Thanks for your note! I miss Ron a lot. Our friendship started, I believe in 1970 or '71. I agree; what a good person...and I was honored to be able to give a eulogy at his service. I'm comforted by the thought of him giving Tyler a hug for me.

I have forwarded this to my son, Dave (60) and my grandson, Jake (25) who are doing a Memorial Day Run in St Louis. Running has been important to both of them. I found this piece to be very moving and a good reminder to keep doing the things you love and let it help you feel Life in a deeper way.

Thank you Nancy - I’m pleased that Born to Run moved you and was worthy of sharing. How nice that Dave and Jake can take part in the same run. Ben and I ran in a 5K together a few years ago. And we’ve biked across Iowa in RAGBRAIs a few times. “Feeling life in a deeper way” …I like that phrase.

An aside… I received a comment on Born to Run from an 80-year-old John Ransom in Washington state. He was a high school runner too and ran until just a few years ago … now takes walks on the beach along the ocean… and writes poetry and stories. I’m assuming we’re not related - but seems like a good guy.

Bob and I went to hosanna before we joined zumbro. Ron had a home near us in Wisconsin we were so saddened when he passed so quickly. He was such a n inspiration to both of us

Perfect piece to read today as I head to knee replacement surgery tomorrow caused by years of running. I wouldn't, however, trade the pain AND joy from years of running for anything. Thanks from the "Running Reverend."

And thank you! I know we share a love for running - and here’s hoping you have many more running miles in your future with your new knee.

This Ransom ran his way into college with (temporary) records in mile, 880, 880 relay. Daily beach walk now, at 80 the injuries that I used to outrun have caught up. Also called "Ransom" by teammates. Race on!

Hi, Bill. The Running Ransoms we are. I'm still trying to stay a half step ahead of the injuries. It must be akin to bank robbing ....some day you're gonna get caught. A daily beach walk at 80 has great appeal. Keep going as long as you can!
